I'm a personal trainer catering to clients in East Surrey and South London, especially Reigate, Dorking, Godstone, Coulsdon, Kingswood, Caterham, Woldingham and the surrounding areas.
I was a reasonable runner around 25 years ago, but by the time I reached my mid-forties, my performances were deteriorating fast. So I began experimenting with different training methods, observing the results and trying out new ideas - with startling success. Within a year I'd won a silver medal at the World Masters Athletics Championships (for runners over 40). I've continued to perform at a high level, and I have won medals in my age group at World, European and British championships.
I'm a fully qualified personal trainer and member of the Register of Exercise Professionals, with a Diploma in Advanced Personal Training. I'm using my professional training together with my personal experience of 30 years in competitive sport to help others achieve their fitness objectives, not just sport-related but also goals such as weight loss or improving general fitness. I have experience in coaching non-athletes to fitness from a zero starting point, and in helping people to regain their fitness following illness or injury. I'm CRB-cleared, a qualified athletics coach, and I'm also qualified in the management of lower back pain.
I'm not averse to hard training (when you're ready for it!), but my main aim is to make training fun, and something to look forward to, rather than a chore that you have to do. For example, holding a fitness session outdoors in beautiful surroundings makes a refreshing change (weather permitting of course!).
